Knowledge Transference

The new normative passed by the FECyT and ANECA for the assessment of Sexenios (normative that soon will be also adopted for assessing the figures of PPL, TU and CU) includes a qualitative component (in addition to the quantitative one) in relation to researchers' scientific publications. In this regard, metrics provided by PlumX to Psicothema are significant for this qualitative justification of the impact and quality of scientific publications on an individual level. Thus, in the past year, Psicothema obtained the following results:

  • 364 citations according to the WoS JCR 2024.
  • 932 citations in indexation bases independent from the WoS, such as Scopus, PubMed or Crossref.
  • 8 citations in legal normative in Spain.
  • 4,891 readings in Mendeley.
  • In addition, overall, articles published in the whole archive of Psicothema received during 2024 a total of 4,079 cites, according to the WoS. This manifests the current interest in works published before the last two years, which still have a significant impact on current science.

Editorial Metrics

In 2025, of all the articles submitted for publication in Psicothema, only 7% were accepted for publication after a comprehensive peer and editorial review process, which aims to guarantee the maximum quality in the papers that are published. Therefore, 93% of the submitted proposals were rejected. Below it can be consulted the detailed information regarding the average time for each step of the editorial process.

1. Status of manuscripts received in 2025 1

Manuscript Status Chart

2. Deadlines associated with the editorial process depending on the status of manuscripts received in 2025

Manuscript status a Days 1st editorial decision b Days 1st review c Days final editorial decision
d Rejected manuscripts without a review process 5 ---- ----
Rejected manuscripts after review process 6 39 39
Manuscripts accepted 5 55 98

Note. a Days 1st editorial decision = Average number of days from the author's submission until the manuscript is rejected by the editorial board or goes into the review process; b Days 1st review = Average number of days from the author's submission until the author receives the first revision of his or her manuscript; cDays final editorial decision = Average number of days from the author's submission until the author is notified of the final decision - accepted; rejected; dPsicothema is only able to publish about 10% of the manuscripts it receives, which is why we apply a very rigorous screening and selection system. Many submissions are considered non-priorities by the Editorial Board without being sent for review
